Any great books on revival?

What’s the purpose of Revival?

The first reason is that “All people might know the mighty hand of the Lord (Josh 4:24).”

The second reason: “So you may know God has power like no other, forever (Josh 4:24).”

Why is revival such a rare thing?

We’re self-absorbed & we trust in our power to bless ourselves; not God’s presence & power.

Revival flows: “…Not persuasive words nor wisdom of men but in the power of God (1 Cor 2:5).”

When does God send revival?

Two main factors:

1) After a self-imposed period of great trial & discouragement. For example, in misery: in Egypt, wilderness, leader (Moses) dies.

2) The real moment of crisis is when God’s people are right up against it so much so that we’re hopeless & helpless; like against the Red Sea with Egypt chasing, or world war with weak leaders.

The desperate need prompts us to cry out with faith admitting we neither know what to do nor have we the required ability.

This is the moment God acts.

Worse things may need to happen before the wake up call spreads from the individual revival carriers to the church.

God have mercy on us all.

“Father, help us see our

final despair in trusting men & ourselves. We are crushed to our knees. Reveal Your glory & holiness to us. Hear us & arise to manifest the right hand of Your power & display Your glory in revival breakthrough. Amen.”
