Tell me how Ezra led the remnant to pray, fast & repent into revival?
God asked Ezra to proclaim a fast, seek God, repent, pray, worship, hunger, trust & obey Him. God promised to extend mercy…revive…repair…rebuild & complete all of the assignment.
Ezra rejoiced initially at God’s promise until he was deeply grieved by the opposition & rebellion of God’s people. Then Ezra saw how leading them to repent & obey thru prayer & fasting was God’s way & the only path to repentance & revival:
Ezra 9:5-15 “I arose from my fasting…(tore) my garment…fell on my knees…& said…God, I am…ashamed…our (sin has) risen higher…our guilt grown…(You, Lord), have shown grace to leave us a remnant to escape…You, Lord, enlighten our eyes & give us a measure of revival…You, Lord, did not forsake us… You extend mercy…revive us…repair…rebuild…Lord, You are righteous…we are left as a remnant… Here we are…no one can stand before You… (Ezra, was faithful to pray, fast, worship trust & obey God, who fulfilled His promise by bringing the remnant to repent & be revived & God completed all the work).
“Father, have mercy on us all, sinners. We deeply mourn the widespread sin & rebellion of Your people. Sovereignly release the fear of God & conviction of sin so that a fitting remnant will respond to Your call to pray & fast unto deep repentance leading the revival that Your Holy Spirit is initiating. We believe You will complete the work You’ve called us to & that You, Yourself, will strengthen us to prosper in the work. We worship You, Lord, for the great mercy & favor You show bringing about Your plans & purposes to fill the earth with the beauty of Your Son. Amen”
