Questions, Answers & Prayer:
What’s our motive for prayer?
Jesus states the chief motive:
“Whatever you ask…I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son (John 14:13).”
The Spirit leads us to pray so God may be glorified in the Son?
This agrees perfectly with Paul’s claim that this is the motive behind praying for all promises:
“All the promises of God in (Jesus Christ) are yes, & in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us (2 Cor 1:20).”
The top purpose for prayer & the promises is given in the phrase:… “to the glory of God.”
Seeking first God’s glory is the motive for effective prayers.
“Father, help us: Speak the Word boldly. Love others as You have loved us that the Father may be glorified in the Son. (John 13:34; 14:13) Amen.”
