Is the general purpose for fasting the same as the great command?

Yes! We fast to love Him & others more & to know Him & others more. Fasting also enables us to receive & release greater measures of God’s power, wisdom & love (Isaiah 58:1-14).

“Lord, stir our hearts to hunger & thirst to love You more & to know You better by making our relationship with You the primary source of our strength. Enable us, in Your presence, to speak & pray the word of the Lord in the power of the Spirit so the Spirit can fill us & lead us to: pray passionately, confront sin & idolatry, expect the power, love & wisdom of God & call people to repent & believe in Jesus. Amen.”

Partial Fast: July 2-9 50-80% normal eating: 2-9, each month Thru 2024 U.S. Elections & Feast of Tabernacles & Thru July 2025. If God’s people cry out for mercy & serve God with prayer & fasting through July 2025 then God’s mercy will triumph over judgment & America will stand with Israel.
