Questions, Answers & Prayer:

Are God’s promises of blessings & warnings of judgment: Alike in the sense of being conditional?

Correct. God deals with nations. Judgment may be averted by repentance. Blessing may be forfeited by disobedience.

Instance of averting judgment?

One Prophet, Jonah, gave one warning of judgment to the evil city of Nineveh, like America, ripe for divine judgement.

The response of Nineveh was quick & dramatic as written:

“The people of Nineveh believed God & proclaimed a fast (with these words): “Let everyone turn from evil…Who can tell if God will relent… & turn…from His fierce anger so we may not perish (Jonah 3:5-9).”’

How’d God respond to the fast?

“God saw their (fast), they turned from evil… God relented from the disaster (Jonah 3:10).”

Nineveh then prospered for 150 years. Then they were destroyed in 612 B.C. for ignoring the calls to repent, fast & pray, repeatedly, given by prophets Nahum & Zephaniah.

“Father, strengthen our families to follow Your Spirit in all areas of life. Give us grace for prayer & fasting (Eph 3:16-19) Amen.”

Partial Fast: Feb 2-9. 50-80% normal eating. 2-9 each month thru Nov 2024: U.S. Elections & Feast of Tabernacles.
